Lester continued his 30-day rehab assignment Tuesday night by blanking the Columbus Clippers on four hits over five innings. But relievers Craig Hansen, Craig Breslow, Mike Timlin, Manny Delcarmen and Travis Hughes combined to squander a four-run lead as Columbus rallied for a 5-4 victory and deprived Lester of his first win.
TIMLIN If all goes well for the right-hander over the next few days, he'll be activated during the Red Sox-Diamondbacks series, which starts on June 8 in Phoenix.
Rather than hobble himself right onto the disabled list, Red Sox right fielder J.D. Drew is hoping that a little bit of rest will cool off his ailing right hamstring.

Clemens announces return to Yanks
The Yankees announced on Sunday that they have signed Clemens, a seven-time Cy Young Award winner, to a Minor League contract for the 2007 season. Clemens will earn $28 million on a prorated basis from the first day he is added to the Yankees' Major League roster

Looking positively rejuvenated, Matsuzaka mowed down the Jays with relative ease over seven innings of work. He allowed five hits and a run over seven innings, walking three and registering eight strikeouts.
That one big inning that had haunted Matsuzaka in recent weeks never made an appearance, as the right-hander was in complete command, throwing in a healthy mix of heaters, sliders, cutters and changeups while adding a splitter that hadn't been seen much of late. It didn't matter if he was out of the windup or the stretch, Matsuzaka put his pitches where he wanted them, improving to 4-2.

Seven starts in, Beckett is batting 1.000.
In Beckett's seven starts, the Red Sox have scored 50 runs while he's been in the game.
